8th SWT Social Events

Social events (a half day bus tour in the afternoon and a party at night) will be arranged on September 9.
It is FREE of charge for registered participants.
Accompanying participants can also attend these social events. The fee for acconpanying person is JPY 5,000 per person.

1. Cultural Inspection (A half day bus tour)
"Kanazawa Gold Leaf Museum" and a Japanese historic village of "Shirakawa-go"
(Departure at 1:30PM, Sept. 9 from Meeting Place (Kageki-Za); Duration: approx. 4.5hours)

Gold leaf is made by beating gold into an extremely thin sheet. Kanazawa produces 99% of domestic gold leaf, and thus "Kanazawa gold leaf" is designated as one of Japanese traditional handicrafts. "Hakuichi Hakuko-kan" is a museum for Kanazawa gold leaf, where you can see the production of gold leaf and buy nice souveniors.

"Shirakawa-go" is a small village located in deep mountains. It was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995. You can see traditional farmhouses known as "Gassho-zukuri" which were built of wooden beams and steep thatched roofs. In Shirakawa-go, you will certainly enjoy old Japanse culture.

2. Conference Party (7:00PM, Sept 9)

A conference party will be held at "Kanazawa Excel Hotel Tokyu" (access map) downtown Kanazawa within 5 minutes' walk from the meeting place (Kageki-Za). The tour bus for "Cultural Inspection" will directly take you to the hotel.
